Palstar's Breakthrough Auto-Tuner
Now with QRO Keyline!
Auto-tuners have been around for years, but most of them use clacking relays and lumped components so that the match is always just a little bit off. Now Palstar has reinvented the auto-tuner with a stepper motor driven capacitor and roller inductor for a perfect match every time, and capped it off with a power rating of 1500 watts, giving auto tuner convienence with QRO power capability.
New Feature! QRO Keyline
The latest version AT-AUTO (2.07a) features the QRO Keyline. This locks an outboard amplifier into standby until the auto tuning is complete. This feature protects both the AT-AUTO and your expensive QRO amplifier from damage caused by the high voltages that can occur when QRO power is fed into a mis-matched load. (This feature requires a slight hardware modification; call factory for pricing to retrofit older units.)
Auto-Tuning with Palstar Quality
The AT-AUTO features a 2 line, large character display for reading the status of antenna feed, frequency, and up to 250 channels of memory each for coax and balanced feeds. The AT-AUTO has a custom built differential capacitor and a custom built ceramic body roller inductor that are tuned by two high-speed, microprocessor-controlled stepper motors.
Active Peak/Peak Hold Watt Meter
Integrated into the AT-AUTO is Palstar's Active Peak/Peak Hold wattmeter allowing you to measure and display forward power, reflected power, and SWR simultaneously on its dual movement meter system. The meter has 300 and 3000 watt range settings.
Rig Interface Connectors
The AT-AUTO has data connectors that interface to most recent Icom, Kenwood and Yaesu transceivers, so that the tuner will automatically follow band and frequency changes. Have an older rig that does not have an interface? No problem, the AT-AUTO incorporates a frequency counter. Just provide the AT-AUTO with a frequency sample by keying the transmitter for less than a second, and it will tune for that frequency.
Field Updatable Firmware
As new software features are added to the AT-AUTO, they can be downloaded and installed right in your shack, no need to return it to the factory for update.
TWO Year Palstar Factory Warranty
Palstar stands behind the AT-AUTO WITH a two (2) year limited warranty.
Like most Hams you've probably tried tuners made by the "other" guys. If you're ready for a switch to high-quality American Made products the AT-AUTO antenna tuner is the cutting-edge of Palstar technology. When you buy a Palstar tuner you're not just buying a piece of quality equipment - you're buying a product from a Made in the USA manufacturer carrying on the American Ham tradition.

Summary of recent AT-AUTO Firmware Reviesions:
Version 2.05 New Firmware Features
AT-AUTO Firmware version 2.05 includes the following new feature:
1. Kenwood and Yaesu serial data header decoding. This improves the operation of the AT-AUTO when used with a "Y" cable configuration when controlling the radio with a computer. This only works with Yaesu radios that provide headers that identify the type of information contained in the serial data string. The Yaesu FT-1000, for example, does not provide this information and thus "Y" cable operation with the FT-1000 is still problematic.
Version 2.06 Bug Corrections
AT-AUTO Firmware version 2.06 includes this change/correction:
1. A bug was found that occasionally affected storage of match settings after "fine tune" had been commanded. Under some very specifc circumstances the revised match setting was either not updated in memory, or else an incorrect setting was occasionally stored. The fine tune" bug affected all previous Firmware versions. Version 2.05 contains this bug fix but no other changes.
Version 2.07 Bug Corrections
AT-AUTO Firmware version 2.07 includes this change/correction:
1. A bug was found that affected the initial recall of match settings when switching the RF outputs. This problem only manifested when the AT-AUTO had received frequency information via the CAT/CI-V interface and had subsequently recalled and set the L and C to the appropriate match settings for the selected output (the coax output for example). If the user then switched the AT-AUTO to balanced output for example, the AT-AUTO would not recall and reposition L or C for the balanced output unless either the frequency was subsequently changed or unless an RF carrier was produced and the AT-AUTO subsequently detected a mismatch. This bug has been corrected. Now whenever the RF output is changed, the AT-AUTO will immediately reposition L and C for the active RF output.
Version 2.07 New Firmware Features
AT-AUTO Firmware version 2.07 includes the following new features:
1. Yaesu FT-920 support. The AT-AUTO firmware now includes the ability to follow frequency changes in the FT-920 via the radio's CAT port.
2. Revised tuning algorithm. The AT-AUTO Firmware includes a minor change in the automatic tuning algorithm which improves the likelihood of ?nding a successful match as well as reduce the time needed to find the match.
3. QRO keyline control. The AT-AUTO Firmware now includes provision to enable/disable the keying of an external HF RF power amplifier based upon user-selectable SWR levels. The AT-AUTO KL includes additional hardware necessary to implement QRO keyline control. Additionally, the external amplifier can be prevented from being keyed while the AT-AUTO KL is tuning (Automatic or Manual mode). Retrofitting this capability to existing AT-AUTOs is possible but requires hardware replacement/modification by Palstar. Contact Palstar for pricing and availability.
